FIREFIGHTER I
No former Firefighting experience required!
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License.
FIREFIGHTER II (EMT)
- Must hold International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro Board Firefighter II certification meeting (National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter II standards
- One year of verifiable experience
- High school diploma or equivalent plus six months to one year of advanced study or training in firefighting and basic life support
- Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License.
FIREFIGHTER III (EMT)
- Must hold International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro Board Firefighter II certification meeting (National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter II standards
- Two years of verifiable experience as a Firefighter II
- High school diploma or equivalent plus six months to one year of advanced study or training in firefighting and basic life support
- Valid South Carolina Class E (or SC Class B CDL)
- Current CPR and AED certifications, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician credentials as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B, EMT-I, or EMT-P)
- SCFA NIMS ICS or a NFA course meeting NIMS ICS (100, 200 & 700)
- SCFA EVDT & SCFA Pump Operations and SCFA Basic Aerial Operations class or equivalent Pro Board or IFSAC certification
- Certifications from the State of South Carolina and/or equivalent program in one of the following areas:
1. Written Test
2. Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT)
